“Does the gift please you?” He stroked the fur with his thumb.
“Very much. Where did they come from?”
“Remember the rabbit stew we enjoyed four weeks past?”
“A most delicious meal, one deserving of a kiss, sir knight.” She leaned forward, hoping he’d take her into his arms.
He held her at arm’s length. “What? The stew gets a reward, and the fine mitts I made get naught?”
He laughed as she fairly flew at him and pressed her mouth against his. The teasing press of her lips turned into more, and he lifted her into his lap. Wanting to teach as much as learn, she slipped her tongue between his teeth. His sudden intake of breath made her grin.
